We read every message. Please include your device and iOS version, and the book, chapter, and verse if the issue is with a specific passage.
Common questions
Do I need an account to use DABAR?
No. DABAR does not require an account, a sign-in, or an email address. Open the app and start reading.
Which translation does DABAR use?
The King James Version. The KJV is in the public domain, which means DABAR can give you the full text, the original-language word studies, and the study tools without licensing restrictions getting in the way of your study.
Where is my study data stored?
On your device. Your notes, prayers, highlights, bookmarks, reading history, and study progress are stored locally and are not uploaded to DABAR's servers simply because you use those features.
The one exception is the optional AI Study Guide, which is described below and in the Privacy Policy.
How do I back up or move my notes to a new device?
[TO CONFIRM — describe the current export or backup behaviour here. If there is no export yet, say so plainly and tell people their notes live only on the device so they know before they rely on it.]
What is the AI Study Guide, and is it on by default?
The Guide is an optional assistant you can ask questions about a passage. It is off until you explicitly turn it on. Before your first question is sent, DABAR shows a consent notice explaining exactly what is shared.
The Guide is a study assistant. It is not Scripture, and it is not a final authority on doctrine. Check what it tells you against the text.
How do I turn the AI Study Guide off?
Go to Me → About the Guide and turn permission off. Future Guide requests will not be sent until you choose to allow the feature again.
What gets sent when I ask the Guide a question?
Your question, the Scripture passage and study sources DABAR gathered for it, and up to four of your notes associated with that passage. Nothing is sent until you select Allow & Continue.
Because your notes can contain prayers and private reflections, avoid putting sensitive personal information in notes or Guide questions unless you are comfortable with it being processed by a third-party AI service.
Does DABAR work offline?
Reading, search, word study, cross references, the study path, and listening are designed to work on your device. Some features need an internet connection when DABAR has to reach an online service, and the app will tell you when that is the case.
How much does DABAR cost?
[TO CONFIRM — state the price, or that it is free, and whether there is any in-app purchase or subscription. Apple reviewers look for this, and so do customers.]
Is there an Android version?
[TO CONFIRM — state whether Android is available, planned, or not planned. A clear "not yet" is better than silence.]
How do I delete my data?
Deleting DABAR from your device deletes the information DABAR stored locally, subject to anything your device or operating system retains independently. There is no account to close, because there is no account.
I found a bug, a typo in the text, or a problem with a word study.
Please tell us. Email team@lastingco.com with the book, chapter, and verse, what you expected, and what you saw. A screenshot helps.
A word about the Study Guide
The Guide is there to help you explore a passage and point you back to Scripture and its sources. It is a tool, not a teacher, and it is not a final authority on doctrine.
If the Guide tells you something that does not match the text, trust the text. And tell us, so we can look at it.
Privacy
DABAR keeps your study on your device, requires no account, and runs no ads, analytics, or tracking. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
