DABAR is a Scripture-first Bible study app created by The Lasting Company LLC ("The Lasting Company," "we," "us," or "DABAR").
We believe Scripture should be handled carefully, and we believe your personal information should be handled the same way. DABAR is designed to keep your information on your device whenever possible.
This Privacy Policy explains what information DABAR handles, what stays on your device, and what happens when you choose to use the AI Study Guide.
1. Information DABAR does not collect
DABAR does not require you to create an account.
DABAR does not use:
- Advertising
- Tracking
- Analytics
- User profiles
- Cross-app tracking
- User-to-user messaging
We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information stored on your device
DABAR stores certain information locally on your device so the app can provide its features. This may include:
- Notes
- Prayers
- Highlights
- Bookmarks
- Reading history
- Study progress
- AI Study Guide answers
- App preferences
This information is not uploaded to DABAR's servers simply because you use these features.
If you delete DABAR from your device, locally stored DABAR information is deleted with the app, subject to any information your device or operating system may retain independently.
3. Bible reading, search, word study, and listening
DABAR's Bible reading, search, word study, cross-reference, study-path, and listening features are designed to operate on your device.
Using these features does not by itself send your personal notes, prayers, highlights, bookmarks, or reading history to DABAR.
Some features may require an internet connection when DABAR needs to access an online service. The app will indicate when an internet connection is required.
4. AI Study Guide
DABAR includes an optional AI Study Guide that can help you explore Scripture and study sources.
The AI Study Guide is disabled until you explicitly give permission to use it. Before your first Guide question is sent, DABAR shows a consent notice explaining what information may be shared.
What is sent
When you use the AI Study Guide, DABAR may send:
- Your Guide question
- The Scripture passage and study sources DABAR gathered for that question
- Up to four notes you have associated with that passage
Your notes may contain personal information, including prayers or other private reflections.
Why it is sent
It is sent only so the AI Study Guide can generate a response to your question. DABAR does not sell this information or use it for advertising.
Who receives it
Guide requests are processed through third-party AI service providers. DABAR may use different AI model providers to provide the Guide service. Those providers process the information as necessary to provide the requested AI response, subject to their applicable terms and privacy practices.
Your permission
Nothing is sent to the AI service for a Guide question until you explicitly select Allow & Continue. If you select Not Now, the Guide does not send the question or your notes.
You can turn Guide permission off at any time from Me → About the Guide. Turning permission off prevents future Guide requests from being sent until you choose to allow the feature again.
5. Personal information
DABAR does not intentionally collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or account credentials through normal use of the app.
However, information you voluntarily include in a Guide question or note may contain personal information. If you choose to send that information through the AI Study Guide, it is processed as described above.
Please avoid including sensitive personal information in Guide questions or notes unless you are comfortable having that information processed by the third-party AI service used to answer your request.
6. Children's privacy
DABAR is not directed specifically toward children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through accounts or profiles, because DABAR does not require accounts.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to a third-party service through the AI Study Guide, please contact us so we can help address the concern.
7. Third-party services
DABAR uses certain third-party services to provide specific functionality, including the AI Study Guide. These services may process information that DABAR sends to them when you choose to use a feature that requires their services.
DABAR does not control the privacy practices of third-party providers. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those providers for additional information about how they handle data.
8. Data security
We design DABAR to minimize the amount of personal information that leaves your device.
Information sent through the AI Study Guide is transmitted using appropriate security measures for the service.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when DABAR's features, services, or legal requirements change. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
